What is Otherside Metaverse?
The Otherside is a gamified, interoperable metaverse and world-building platform that provides an exciting environment to play, create, compete, connect, and explore together. Otherdeed holders (aka Voyagers) are invited to take part in Otherside’s “Voyager’s Journey,” an 11-part storyline surrounding a mysterious Obelisk that has appeared in the Otherside universe.
What We Experienced During The "First Trip"
The first stage of the Voyager’s Journey will be a series of tech demos, allowing Voyagers to journey into Otherside which will help the developers push the limits of the platform technology.
“First Trip” is the first of several “Trips” that Voyager’s will be able to participate in. The inaugural First Trip was held on Saturday, July 16th, 2022. All Voyagers that complete each Stage of this experience will be eligible to receive additional incentives related to Otherside in the future.
In order for an Otherdeed owner to qualify as completing the First Trip stage, they just need to participate in any of the Trips or watch the Livestreams. To enter you need an Otherdeed plot connect your wallet for verification. There were approximately 4500 users, with no latency.
The Infinite Space (but, it's actually FINITE)
We start out In the Infinite Space, that’s not quite inifinite so it’s a bit of a misnomer – should be the finite space. We are greeted by a giant bored ape named Curtis that will be our guide to the Otherside.
We also learn all the controls to play the game and we have our first look at a Koda, named Blue.
Then a portal on the ground opens and so our trip to the Otherside began.
The Swamp, The Sphere, and The Obelisk - Touted as the "First Boss Fight in the Metaverse"
After we fall into the portal we get our first look at the Otherside, now this area is called The Swamp. To get around we can use these jump pods, which propels us forward from area to area – clearing through quicker.
We made our way to The Sphere, an amphitheatre in The Swamp where we will get more direction about our journey. Here, we will meet our fellow voyagers and we receive our first mission. Find and save the Kodas.
After freeing the Koda, we made our way back to “The Sphere”.
We then learned that “The Obelisk” needs our help. Without constant Metaverse voyager activity its power reserves get really low, we NEED to charge it up.
In the distance we could see the obelisk and we need to power it up with our energy. To do that we travelled to the charging stations and we got to experience our first Metaverse boss fight. We all had to defeat an evil giant Koda that apparently had a little too much of the special sauce if you know what I mean.
